The MetaBase Modeler is a Java GUI for the creation and maintenance of design-time metadata. The MetaBase Modeler is used to link or transform physical metadata into virtual metadata which represents application views of data.
The MetaBase Modeler captures, models, and maintains metadata for disparate data sources. You can model the form and structure of each data source and logically name and organize the data independently of the physical data store. You can also import the metadata from a variety of formats, including directly importing from some data store types.
You can model this metadata to organize how your enterprise's data sources relate to one another and to create visual cues which describe the business rules your organization uses with the information within the data sources. MetaBase Modeler offers display and print capability for this.
Once you have organized your metadata into models, your organization, if you use the MetaMatrix Server for information integration, can then use those metadata models to resolve application queries using the data sources you have modeled. |
