ABSTRACT:
From its inception, Tivoli Storage Manager was designed to be a highly scalable and available data protection solution. However, Tivoli Storage Manager V6.1 takes data protection scalability to the next level with a new relational database, based on IBM DB2® technology, designed to store many more objects and manage more data. Greater availability is delivered through enhancements such as online, automated database reorganization. In addition, the increased scalability and the ability to leverage the latest in server technology helps deliver increased performance of backup and recovery processes. Version 6.1 goes far beyond fixes, delivering new features that ease management issues and increase performance.

TSM 6.1 has several new features, including:

  • Conversion of the existing TSM Database to DB2
  • Complete Out of the Box TSM Reporting and Monitoring
  • TSM Data de-duplication
  • FastBack for TSM Integration
  • DRM Support for Active-Data Pools
