ABSTRACT:
In this podcast, Alex Lanstein, Senior Security Researcher at FireEye, provides some insight into the 3FN colocation facility takedown. This rogue Internet service provider was specifically used to host spam template servers and it took a back door Internet effort led by the Federal Trade Commission and assisted by FireEye to track them down and provide vital information for the case. FireEye's global malware analysis & exchange network was key in this effort. It distributes and shares FireEye auto-generated security intelligence about Web malware and its unauthorized outbound destinations. By sharing out this intelligence to local FireEye appliances customers worldwide benefit from even quicker response times to stop inbound attacks and prevent unauthorized outbound data thefts.
