ABSTRACT:
Commonly deployed target-side deduplication strategies are only one way to reduce the total quantity of backed up data. But because the desired data reduction occurs after the data transfer, those strategies do nothing to shrink one’s backup window, reduce contention on the LAN, or improve backup success rates.

Syncsort BEX source side data reduction can be used to significantly decrease the amount of data sent to a backup target, reducing network traffic and CPU impact. Read this solution sheet for details.
